The SC/ST Cell at Al Jamia Arts and science College was constituted in accordance with guidelines issued by the UGC and Government of Kerala. The Cell is committed to ensuring equal educational opportunities, safeguarding rights, and promoting the welfare of students from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes communities within the institution. Its objective are to ensure SC/ST enrolment and retention in various programs , Facilitate access to scholarships and financial assistance offered by Central/State/UGC bodies and Conduct orientation and remedial coaching for SC/ST students to bridge learning gaps.
To create an equitable and inclusive educational environment where students from SC/ST communities can thrive academically, socially, and personally, free from discrimination and bias.
1. Promoting Inclusion and Equality:
Foster a campus culture that values diversity, ensuring respect and equal
opportunities for students from SC/ST communities.
2. Providing Academic and Financial Support:
Offer targeted academic assistance, scholarships, and financial aid to support
the educational aspirations and needs of SC/ST students.
3. Raising Awareness and Sensitivity:
Conduct awareness programs and workshops to educate the campus
community about the issues faced by SC/ST students, promoting sensitivity
and understanding.
4. Ensuring Equal Opportunities:
Advocate for and implement policies that guarantee equal opportunities for
SC/ST students in admissions, scholarships, internships, placements, and other
academic and extracurricular activities.
5. Facilitating Grievance Redressal:
Establish a transparent and effective grievance redressal mechanism to address
complaints related to discrimination, harassment, or bias, ensuring timely and
fair resolution.
6. Empowering Students:
Provide leadership development programs, skill-building workshops, and
platforms for SC/ST students to voice their concerns and showcase their
talents.
7. Building Community and Support Networks:
o Create support networks and peer groups to help SC/ST students connect,
share experiences, and support each other in their academic and personal
journeys.
