The Film Club at Al Jamia Arts and Science College (AJAS College), like similar clubs in Arts and Science institutions, serves as a co-curricular platform to foster appreciation, critical thinking, and creative skills related to cinema among students.
To create awareness about the artistic, cultural, and social aspects of films.
To provide entertainment through film-based programs.
To encourage participation in cultural activities related to cinema.
To promote critical thinking through debates and discussions.
To nurture creativity by motivating students to make short films.
To enhance learning through workshops, seminars, and webinars.
To cultivate a community of students who appreciate cinema as an art form, a medium of learning, and a tool for social awareness, fostering critical thinking and creative expression through films.
The mission of the Film Club is to promote the artistic, cultural, and educational value of cinema by engaging students in film screenings, discussions, and creative projects. The club strives to enhance students’ understanding of film as a reflection of society, inspire visual storytelling skills, and encourage analytical perspectives on cinematic works. Through these activities, the Film Club aims to build a platform where passion for movies meets meaningful dialogue and creative exploration.
1. Film Awareness Sessions
o Screen classic, regional, and international films followed by interactive
discussions.
o Conduct review-writing activities to improve analytical skills.
2. Entertainment Programs
o Organize fun-based film quizzes, movie character role-play, and film-based
competitions.
o Celebrate World Cinema Day with special screenings.
3. Cultural Activities
o Arrange film festivals showcasing different cultures and themes.
o Invite guest speakers from the film and media industry to share experiences.
4. Debates & Discussions
o Conduct debates on topics like “Cinema as a reflection of society”, “OTT vs
Theatres”, etc.
o Panel discussions on social issues portrayed in movies.
5. Short Film Production
o Encourage students to produce short films/documentaries on relevant themes.
o Provide mentorship on scriptwriting, direction, and editing.
6. Workshops
o Hands-on sessions on film-making, cinematography, sound design, and digital
editing.
o Practical guidance from experts in media and visual arts.
7. Seminars & Webinars
o Organize seminars on Film and Society, Media Ethics, Evolution of Cinema.
o Host webinars with industry professionals to discuss trends like AI in Filmmaking and OTT platforms
